This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Technical Team at our Farnham Campus. We are looking for a skilled individual to support students and provide technical tuition within our Ceramics department. This will include the delivery of technical workshops and demonstrations into equipment and processes such as mould making, glazing, and enamelling, use of electric potters’ wheels and ceramic 3D printers.
You will oversee the day-to-day care and operation of the ceramics facilities including supervision, management, and maintenance of specialist equipment. The post holder will need competence in a range of ceramic techniques and processes alongside experience of ceramic kiln operations including scheduling, correct loading techniques and firing atmospheres.
This position requires knowledge and understanding of the H&S hazards associated with use of specialist equipment and materials needed when making ceramic artworks. Experience of relevant safe working practices and a high degree of knowledge in all appropriate H&S procedures is a must to ensure the safety of our learners.
You will be able to demonstrate a positive and flexible approach when supporting both students and staff. This is a dynamic role that needs excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to apply initiative, problem solve and work as part of a team.

Actual salary for this role is £11,71 - £12,564 per annum
The University has a dedicated Learning & Organisational Development team who work with staff and managers to capitalise on training opportunities. Training will be provided to the successful candidate to build upon existing skill base and fill any gaps in knowledge.
