You will work mainly within the engineering team on Airborne and Maritime Mission Systems, with particular focus on Sonar, across multiple programmes. The focus will be on becoming an in house subject matter expert on Sonar. In addition, you will have opportunities to work both on our existing portfolio of programmes and future capabilities, which we want you to help shape.
You will primarily be home based with occasional travel to the Havant office, supplier sites and customer sites.
You will experience a wide range of engineering activities including:

Becoming the Cognizant (responsible) Engineer for sonar within a programme or across multiple programmes.

Performance Analysis
-
Analysis of sonar detection performance requirements, performance of candidate designs and investigation of shortfalls/anomalies/potential improvements.

Predication of sonar performance; conduct of sonar-related operational analysis including development, verification and validation of high- and low-fidelity sonar, target and environmental models for modelling and simulation.

Analysis of operational and trials data to assess sonar behaviour and performance.

You will be responsible for leading the sonar element of system design, particularly with regard to architectural integration of sonar processing and information presentation with wider mission system architecture and data. This will include being responsible for overall performance of the acoustics system within the mission system as a whole.

Review, advise and approve system test plans and acceptance test documentation

Leading Design efforts and integration of Sonar into mission systems.

Translate business requirements into appropriate technical specifications

Manage your time to develop effective solutions to cost and quality targets

Provide technical input to programme management and commercial staff and support where required in the use of LM and industry tools

Any additional Programme related tasks assigned that are within area of expertise, competence and skill set.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and suppliers across all levels of the organisation both internally and with the customer
