In a nutshell
Working with the AML Systems and Data team as a Senior Financial Crime Analyst, you’ll ensure Sainsbury's Bank are optimising the effectiveness of the Bank’s screening and monitoring processes. The role will also support the reduction of fraud risk through effective management and monitoring of models and systems in place.
What you need to do
- Coordinate (as Sainsbury’s Bank system Owner) all aspects of system governance and supplier liaison for Sainsbury’s Bank Financial Crime systems
- On-going review, validation and optimisation of AML and fraud system performance
- Drive internal system configuration optimisation or work with SB Outsource suppliers to identify, monitor and resolve AML system performance issues, gaps and tuning opportunities within agreed SLAs
- Design, implement and validate new rules/settings in response to specific/emerging threats
- Review and validate analysis undertaken by outsource suppliers as part of the annual review of system settings/rules, and subsequently validate any amended rules/settings implemented
- Maintain a central audit trail of all AML related system rules/referral settings (and changes to those settings) togeather with the underlying rationale
- Evaluate, analyse and leverage a range of statistical and written information in order to recommend, review and implement decisions that will have a positive impact
- Baseline current performance, track and report on model effectiveness
- Deliver accurate analysis and Management Information for the AML function
- Provide analysis of the latest trends in FC at an industry level
- Working with the SRM team this role holder will support the deployment of the SRM framework for Sainsbury's Bank partners and suppliers ensuring governance is measured in line with the SRM process, policy and risk appetite
- Bespoke (one off) extraction and analysis of data in support of specific investigations, emerging threats, etc as requested by 1st or 2nd line FC teams and subsequent participation in any relevant meetings/steering groups
- Build a network of specialist contacts within the FC analytics space, to help ensure awareness of emerging threats, best practice and relevant industry experience
What you need to know
Technical skills
- Essential
- Intermediate level understanding of data analysis and predictive rule design; highly numerate
- Desirable
- Intermediate level understanding of Financial Crime law and best practice in AML
- Intermediate level understanding of SQL
- Intermediate level understanding of SAS and data Objects
Professional experience
- Min 1-2 years’ experience of analytics/intelligence work and linked predictive modelling, obtained in one or more of the following environments:
- 1st or 2nd Line Financial Crime or Risk function
- Specialist FC/Risk consulting firm
- Specialist Financial crime or risk system supplier
- HMT, FCA, NCA, law enforcement
- Retail Banking experience preferred but not essential
- Effective relationship management and inter-personal skills
Academic qualifications
- Relevant specialist Financial Crime qualifications: e.g.: ICA Diploma in FC/AML, ACAMs.
- Either educated to degree level or in possession of an equivalent professional qualification (e.g.: Banking exams, insurance exams, accountancy exams)
- Relevant statistical or system-based qualifications
