For this role you will be based in the Bristol area at either our Ashton House site or at our Bristol Business Park site in Stoke Gifford with access to work flexibly from the two different sites. Normal hours of work are 37 per week, Monday to Friday, with a flexible start and finish times.
This role is within the Marine Sector of Babcock International Group, which delivers a wide array of complex through-life marine engineering services to defence and civil customers across the globe. These range from UK and international naval fleet support, commercial marine, engineering consultancy, weapons handling, equipment support, intelligence, cyber security and training.
Mission Systems forms a critical, and growing part of Babcock’s Marine organisation. Associate Project Manager (APM) Apprenticeship:
We are looking for ‘can-do’ people who are organised, enjoy planning activities and work well with a diverse range of people. As part of our two-year APM apprenticeship programme you will gain valuable work experience whilst earning a very competitive salary at the same time. Upon graduating the scheme, successful apprentices will be assessed and considered for an APM role and will be supported to progress through to professional membership of the Association of Project Managers.
As an APM apprentice you will become an important part of our Project Management Office team working on a diverse range of projects where your output can make a real difference. Your typical daily activities will include preparing planning schedules and activities for review, defining work packages, reconciling and analysing data into useful information, developing communication plans and producing reports on delivery, cost and quality.
Possible placements:
During your apprenticeship you will work in the following areas of the business in six-month long placements:
- Equipment Management
- Maritime Support Services
- Programmes and Production
- In-Service Support
Qualifications you’ll get:
You will attend college on a weekly basis and study towards the following:
- Project Foundation Qualification (PFQ)
- Associate Project Manager Qualification (APMQ).
- Level 4 Associate Project Manager qualification
Your technical training will be supplemented with in-house training courses and soft skill training to help you develop your personal and team working skills.
The aim of the apprenticeship is to prepare you for a permanent project management role working as an Assistant Project Manager within Mission Systems.

Qualifications required:
- A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or higher (or equivalent) including GCSE English and Maths at grade B/6 or higher
- 3 A Levels at B or above, or equivalent
The ability to gain SC clearance.
