Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Online Copywriter to join our team. The Online Copywriter is responsible for producing engaging content across Hamleys digital channels & touchpoints, driving traffic and conversion, strengthening brand identity and tone of voice.
They will be responsible for implementing SEO Best Practice through the planning and implementation of content onsite including product, seasonal campaigns, web content pages, category and product listing pages, ensuring consistency across all channels, resulting in increased user engagement.
Key Accountabilities
- To produce creative, compelling, and engaging content for Hamleys online customers enhancing user experience implement Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) Best Practices throughout their work, ensuring consistency across all channels and digital touchpoints;
- Collaborate with Hamleys eCommerce, Buying and Merchandising teams & Marketing teams to plan and implement engaging content across all Hamleys digital touchpoints, ensuring product, category copy, and metadata is delivered ahead of planned launch;
- Develop content that drives traffic and strengthens brand identity, implementing clear brand guidelines on tone of voice;
- Manage the Product content roadmap;
- Support the eCommerce team to increase Hamleys user engagement and conversion enhancing customer experience, with a focus on optimising, applying a process for continual improvement;
- Implement SEO Best Practices throughout managing the on-site product, and seasonable campaign content for Hamleys;
- Identify SEO opportunities on site at the start of a campaign making the necessary steps to maintain SEO equity throughout;
- Ensure product copy is created ahead of scope for timely upload with priority based on commercial return;
- Manage on-site search and accurate results pages, reporting on no results, and identifying and implementing changes in a timely manner regarding insights;
- Influence website structure, campaigns, and content opportunities to inform the wider eCommerce team of SEO impact;
- Interact with multiple stakeholders, both internal within Hamleys, and external with other industry leads;
- Aide in product selection and stock checks for all digital communication, and check that products are aligned with commercial KPIs;
- Coordinate with external stakeholder to execute digital, social, and mobile first strategy in line with Hamleys objectives, to drive brand engagement;
- Use Google Analytics and Onsite Search tools to improve on-site search functionality and results pages;
- Maximize cross/up-sell opportunities throughout Hamleys communications and A/B & MVT testing tools for further Optimisation;
- Prepare for campaign launches and site refreshes working with HTML;
- Influence decision making and the prioritisation of processes, systems, and new features to streamline the UX, conversion rates, and working efficiencies related to content and customer experience;
- Support in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) of new features in the staging environment and live testing in production environment, in accordance with agreed test scenarios;
- Log bugs and issues as user stories so that the eCommerce team can resolve them efficiently;
- Research key competitor activity and the wider retail landscape, as well as any differential online trading tactics, and apply these learning to further improve UX and conversion;
- Report on commercial benefits from on-site changes; and
- Address 404 errors on the website and redirect accordingly.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven track record of delivering SEO Best Practice;
- Degree-educated within a relevant subject;
- Minimum 3-year’s copywriting experience;
- Full comprehension and use of English, both written and oral;
- Self starter, agile to changing demands and priorities;
- Excellent communication & presentation skills;
- Operates well under pressure, with a meticulous focus on detail, and the ability to prioritise and manage workload;
- People-focused, able to create and maintain excellent stakeholder relationships; and
- Excellent working knowledge of Google Analytics.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Prior experience working with Magento;
- Prior experience working with Dynamics 365;
- Experience in fast-paced work environments, utilising large and complex data, and delivering quick decision-making that is commercial and results driven; and
- Understanding of all Digital Marketing Channels.
Please note that due to the nature of this role, there may be requirement to work outside of normal office hours on occasion.
