Job Description
Trainee/Junior Operations & Growth Manager:
Cleansmart manufacture professional carpet and upholstery cleaning machines, and are one of the UK’s leading suppliers to this niche market.
Our ‘Airflex’ machines are very highly rated, with a leading UK presence, a growing European presence and active interest from the United States.
We are now looking to expend on our UK success and set up US-based production facilities to produce 120 volt machines, which should be a transformative period for the business.
In preparation for this expansion, we are looking for an ambitious, degree level candidate, who is capable of growing with the business and progressing to Operations Manager and then Global Operations Manager.
You will need to be process driven, creative, and with the people skills to manage the processes that you will optimise. No previous experience of the cleaning equipment industry is required.
Your mission:
Phase 1: Trainee/Junior Operations Manager (£35k + up to £9k bonus)
As Trainee Operations Manager, you will acquire a 360-degree view of our operations, working ‘hands on’ in each area of the business.
During phase 1 you will work collaboratively with our team to improve and optimise our processes, select and monitor appropriate KPI’s, and create staff training systems, in the following areas:
- Production
- Warehouse/logistics
- Stock
- Repairs and servicing
- Parts
- Health and safety
As you complete the work needed in each of the above areas, you will assume responsibility for overseeing that area of the business, with a £1500 bonus paid each time you take on a new area of responsibility.
On successful completion of Phase 1, you progress from Trainee Operations Manager to Operations Manager.
Phase 2: Promotion to Operations Manager (£45k plus target-based profit share)
While overseeing day-to-day operations, you will now work closely with our team to prepare for expansion into the US market.
You will help appoint and then oversee a US-based Operations Manager. From the UK (and with occasional short visits to the US), you will work with the US Operations Manager to source US premises and prepare operationally.
You will oversee the planning of premises layout, stock, equipment and staffing requirements. You will implement our operational systems, with monitoring, and assist with staff recruitment and training, ready for launch.
Upon successful launch, there will be an opportunity to progress to Global Operations Manager (circa £60k plus generous target-based profit share), overseeing both UK and US operations, continuing to work closely with the US Operations Manager and US staff.
The Operations Manager will play a key role in developing and delivering the company’s growth plan, as we scale up our small but successful UK operations, to accomplish our mission of ‘World class British cleaning equipment - Worldwide’.
