A fantastic opportunity for an Apprentice trained Approved Electrical Supervisor / Electrician, with experience of working in the water industry on pumping stations, water control devices and associated instrumentation. The role is required to support a busy and fast paced engineering maintenance team undertaking a variety of planned preventative and reactive electrical maintenance tasks, along with minor project works. This position can offer longevity through its long-term maintenance framework agreements supporting one of our key clients.
The Role
We require an enthusiastic and qualified Apprentice trained Approved Electrician, with experience of working in the water industry on pumping stations, water control devices and associated instrumentation.
Generally working in a team of two with a mechanical fitter undertaking Planned Preventative and Reactive Maintenance tasks, along with minor project works.
As an Approved Electrician you will be directly responsible for the daily management of various mechanical maintenance projects and remits within our portfolio of work in the Engineering maintenance business unit. Day to day responsibilities would include:
Ensure the Health, Safety and Welfare of employees and others under their direct control through compliance with the requirements of the Supervisors Health and Safety Responsibility Statement.-
Ensure that all company and client Health &Safety and Environmental initiatives are effectively implemented.

Report of any unsafe practices

Promote continuous improvement culture and the use of best practice.

Effective leadership, supervision, utilisation and monitoring of Direct and Subcontract Labour Force.

Delivery of works within programme and to budget, ensuring that the works are executed in accordance with the

requirements of:

All applicable legislation

The Terms and Conditions of the contract

The Contract Health and Safety Plan

The Contract Quality / Environmental Plan

The clients approved Works Package Plans and Task Briefing Sheets

The approved Construction Drawings and Specification

The Policies and Procedures contained within the Company Business Management System

Ensure that Quality standards are achieved and are ‘right first time’
-
Monitor of the progress of the works to ensure contract objectives are being met
-
Ensure that, changes to the scope of works are identified, agreed, implemented and effectively managed
-
Ensure that robust records are maintained i.e. diaries, allocation sheets, plant etc.

Provide formal reports on progress to the Project Manager/Site Agent

Ensure that all relevant issues, which cannot be resolved at site level, are passed for the attention of the Project Manager / Site Agent

Identify and Implement training needs for directly employed operatives employees under their control
-
Brief method statements and undertake task briefing to all reporting personnel.

Viewing live and historical data associated with client assets.
-
Configuration.
-
Uploading and downloading software.
-
Modifying sequences.
-
Testing communications and electrical systems / installations
-
Connecting instrumentation.

Updating firmware
-
Uploading saved configurations.
-
Installation of electrical equipment of site.

Ensuring that all relevant issues, which cannot be resolved at site level are passed for the attention of the Contracts Engineer / Electrical Engineer

Fault finding and troubleshooting followed by relevant repair and maintenance
-
If required, participate in a call out rota with other framework team members covering 365 days per year 24 hours per day.

Other tasks as may from time to time be deemed necessary and are authorised by line managers.
Requirements
As an apprentice trained, approved Electrician, you will ideally have experience working in the working in the water industry on pumping stations, water control devices and associated instrumentation.

Approved Electrician
-
Holds a current driving licence and be able to visit sites to the west of the Pennines from the Scottish Borders down to Mersey Side and Manchester.

Participate in a call out rota with other framework team members covering 365 days per year 24 hours per day.

Ideally Supervisor trained to SSSTS or training will be provided.

Be able to work in confined spaces after the appropriate training has been completed.
