Currently studying an Undergraduate Degree at accredited university in of the following: Data Science, Mathematics (STEM), Statistics, Computer-related disciplines, Engineering, Technology, Science and Life Science.
Completed a minimum of 2 years of your undergraduate degree when you start your placement.
Not graduated at the start of your placement.
Enrolled at a UK or ROI university for the duration of your placement.
If you have already graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree and are currently studying a postgraduate Masters, you are not eligible for this programme.
Language requirement: Written and spoken fluency in English
Expected Start date: July 2023
Duration: 1 year (approximately)

As a part of your placement year in the Data Analytics, you will be embedded in the business helping drive value from our data.
Your role may include: -
Developing new reports and insights for the business
On-demand data analysis and reporting to support our internal customers
Working with internal customers like franchise planning from around the world to drive value and insights from our supply chain
Highlighting improvement opportunities in inventory management and partnering with the planning organisation for value delivery, and as you become more experienced, leading and delivering the projects
Building strong relationships within key business functions
Leading a project to review out current analytical tools and recommending a future forward path
Exposure to how cutting-edge technology and analytics is changing our global supply chain
You will be applying the skills you already have and developing new skills of your choice which could include data analysis, data science, power BI, advanced excel along with softer skills like team working, problem solving and building relationships. You will work with and learn from an experienced team, who will coach and mentor you during your year to help you achieve your potential.

Barnard Castle
The Barnard Castle site is located in the Northeast of England is sited within the County Durham countryside. Barnard Castle is a key secondary site for GSK with a large number of New Products coming through development at site. We manufacture and supply a huge range of different pharmaceutical products from Sterile Products (Syringes and Vials) to Liquid Inhalations and Dermatologicals. We have recently opened a new state of the art aseptic digital facility producing biopharamaceuticals.
As a Data Science & Analytics IP at the Barnard Castle site you will have exposure to modelling and analytics projects in many applied settings from optimising incoming materials scheduling to predicting failures on production lines to working on continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
This wide and varied role will provide you with the opportunity to learn/ use a broad spectrum of tools e.g., coding in Python, R, Java, Microsoft power platform suite, web-based visualisations, to work with both scientific and manufacturing process data for new medicines that GSK are developing, as well as data for medicines that are already licenced to patients. The innovative solutions or data quality improvements you will be involved in directly contribute to either the acceleration of the development of new products or to maintaining the quality of the licenced products.
As your experience grows you will be given the opportunity to lead the delivery and implementation of innovative data solutions or data quality improvements using scientific, supply chain operations, and process performance data, helping you develop project management skills.
This role will appeal to someone who wants to combine skills in digital technology with problem solving capabilities whilst gaining experience of end-to-end pharmaceutical manufacture.
Who are we looking for?
To be well-organised and a team player
Good Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills
Knowledge and application of coding
Problem-solving skills, and an ability to visualise and interpret data
Highly numeracy/accuracy skills
Strong communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively or on own initiative on key data projects to drive improvements and an agile learner
Statistical analysis experience or use of Power BI (nice to have but not essential)
Ability to demonstrate qualities aligned with GSK’s culture
