The location of these roles will be in one of our Satellite Sites across the UK. Due to their remote locations, the suitable candidate will need access to their own transport in order to get to work each day. The exact location of the roles can be confirmed prior to the interview stage. Where possible, we will match the candidate to the location closest to their home base or preferred location. The suitable candidate may need to relocate to be closer to their employing site
This role is within the Marine Sector of Babcock International Group, which delivers a wide array of complex through-life marine engineering services to defence and civil customers across the globe. These range from UK and international naval fleet support, commercial marine, engineering consultancy, weapons handling, equipment support, intelligence, cyber security and training.

Communications Engineering Apprenticeship:
The Communications Engineering apprenticeship scheme will take three years to complete. During this time, you will earn a competitive apprentice wage and gain hands-on technical experience in the workplace. As part of the structured training programme, you will gain academic qualifications and be supported via on-the-job training.
As a Communications Engineer you will be a multi skilled engineer, working on all types of communication equipment, IT and computer networks and repairing electronic circuits and equipment. You will have to carry out routine technical maintenance and fault find systems to restore communications and services.
Possible placements:
At our communication sites you will work on equipment to a component level and the technical skills you will learn will include:
Fault finding and component replacement
Soldering
Testing and measuring
Equipment Maintenance
System set up and maintenance
Equipment calibration
ICT Equipment
The apprenticeship will last 3 years. Training in the first 2 years will be focused on the Radio Network Technician apprenticeship and gaining the BTEC advanced diploma to give you the underpinning knowledge to complete the apprenticeship.
Qualifications you’ll get:
As part of the apprenticeship, you will be required to complete a 90 credit BTEC level 3 Diploma and in the final year you will complete an additional BTEC advanced Diploma confirming your competence in the role.
Your technical training will be supplemented with in-house training courses and soft skill training to help you develop your personal and team working skills.
The aim of the apprenticeship scheme is to prepare you for an engineering post within the company with the opportunity to become a fully trained Communications Engineer.

Qualifications required:
A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at C/4 grade Must include Maths and English at B/6 or higher
2 A Levels at C or above, or equivalent
