About the Team
The Public Companies and Capital Markets team is growing and we are looking for an additional lawyer at Associate level, with experience in both equity capital markets and M&A, to join us and assist us in delivering the very best client experience.
Operating as part of a 70 lawyer strong national corporate team, the Public Companies and Capital Markets team ("PCCM") has an emphasis on Equity Capital Markets, and Public and Private M&A work. In London, it sits alongside the Listed Funds and Private M&A / Private Equity teams, with a fourth team based in Birmingham also undertaking Private M&A and Private Equity work. The PCCM team is cohesive and supportive, and team members are highly responsive and focused on obtaining the best outcome for clients.
The team has for many years consistently been a leader in the Equity Capital Market rankings, especially in the AIM market, and has a broad spread of work focussing on floats and secondary fundraisings, both on the Main Market and on AIM acting for corporates and nominated and financial advisers, takeovers, and private M&A and joint ventures for public companies. Sectors of particular strength include Natural Resources, Energy & Renewables, Technology, and Healthcare & Life Sciences (including Cannabis). The team has proven that it has the sectoral and international expertise to attract work of the highest quality.
The team works with a large number of international clients, both out of developed markets such as the US and Canada, and also emerging markets such as Africa, South America and South East Asia. It regularly works with the firm's other offices overseas and best friend firms in many jurisdictions, in particular acting on dual listings for Canadian and Australian companies.
Between the PCCM team and Listed Funds, the firm currently acts for 86 quoted and listed clients (40 of which are traded on AIM). We topped the ARL (Adviser Rankings Limited) AIM Advisers Rankings Guide for FTSE AIM 50 clients in 2020, and ranked second for FTSE AIM 100 clients by clients' market capitalisation, at £8.3 billion. As at November 2020, our total AIM clients' market capitalisation had reached £10.2 billion. Clients of the team include Wilmington, Bushveld Minerals, Bacanora Minerals, Revolution Bars, H&T Group, MJ Hudson Group, Canaccord Genuity, finnCap, Cenkos Securities, WH Ireland, Shore Capital and Strand Hanson. Most recent, high-profile deals include acting for Codemasters on the US$1.2bn competitive takeovers by Take Two Interactive and EA Games.
